Match Report - Old Tylerian Away

Abersychan secured a season double in under two weeks against 3rd in the table Old Tylerians.

As was the case in the home fixture, Old T's took a 7-nil lead in the first half. After 30 minutes of arm wreslte in the middle of the park they crossed over from the back of a scrum and the try was converted. Abersychan responded almost immediately off the re-start with Matthew Donovan making a 60 meter run up the wing to score in the corner. Deri King nailed the conversion to level the scores for half time.

The second half saw Aber playing down the slope on Abertillery Park, Aberyschan were in control for most of this half, dominating in defence and forward play. The home side were only able to secure 1 penalty kick. Good forward play lead to both of the second half trys; Scott Taylor scored from a quick tap penalty resulting from relentless phase play in their 22, crashing over from short distance. Matthew Donovan scored his second try off the back of a scrumage after more pressure in their 22. Unfortunately both conversions were closely missed.

The final score was 10 - 17 with the home team pinching a losing bonus point.Man of the match was Matthew Donovan.

The last game of the season see Abersychan travelling to Bettws on April 22nd looking to secure 3rd place in the league.
